Apple is reportedly preparing what some experts are calling the biggest set of iPhone revamps in the product’s history. At the center of it all is the long-awaited iPhone Fold, Apple’s first foldable device,  expected to be announced in September 2026. However, it may not go on sale until December 2026, according to Barclays analyst Tim Long as mentioned by CNET.

A Phone That Opens Like a Book

Like Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold, the iPhone Fold will open like a book, giving users a large screen for watching videos, playing games, and multitasking. Rumored screen sizes put the outer display at 5.3 inches – roughly the size of a regular smartphone – and the inner display at 7.7 inches when unfolded, closer to a small tablet.

The Crease Problem

The apparent crease between screenbends is one of the biggest problems of foldable phones. Rumors earlier pointed to Apple making an aim at a virtually crease free display, however more recent rumors have shown that Apple is employing technology that does not completely remove creases but instead minimizes them. That is a step in the right direction as compared to the majority of Android foldables, but something to keep in mind.

Face ID Is Out, Touch ID Is In

The supply chain analyst at Apple, Ming-Chi Kuo believes the foldable iPhone will come with two rear and one front camera together with a Touch ID power button, rather than Face ID. It could probably be the reason why Face ID does not fit in this parameter because of its thin foldable shape.

New Multitasking Features

iOS 27 will probably be optimized to the foldable iPhone, so that users will be able to use two apps at once when the display is fully unfolded, which has never been available to iPhone users.

And There’s More Coming in 2027

The iPhone Fold is not the only significant redesign that is going to happen. It is also reported that Apple is developing a 20th-anniversary iPhone – possibly as early as 2027 – with a smooth curved glass design and no display notches, and an under-screen front camera. Apple has the opportunity to capitalize on the timing since the original iPhone was unveiled in January 2007, so the product will be 20 next year.

How Much Will It Cost?

Get yourself ready, initial indications are a price of between 2000 and 2500 dollars. It is costly, though it is the most radical new iPhone Apple has ever produced. The full iPhone 18 family is shaping up as follows: the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and iPhone Fold in September.

It’s shaping up to be a genuinely historic couple of years for the iPhone.
