While its fans have just started watching Season 2, Fallout’s executive producer and the director of Bethesda Game Studios, Todd Howard, has confirmed the release of Season 3. Moreover, the first episode has premiered prior to its official schedule. This speaks to the confidence Amazon and Bethesda have in this project.

Howard has also reported to Variety that the subsequent storylines of Fallout will be more intertwined to the gaming universe.

Season 1 v/s Season 2

The changes that stand out the most in this season are its location i.e., New Vegas and its close association with the visuals of the game, and a perfect contrast created by the lights of the New Vegas Strip as well as the dilapidated Wasteland. Moreover, viewers will also find the journey of Lucy and The Ghoul more complicated and dark compared to its previous season.

Another discrepancy is in its premiering format, which has transformed the viewer experience drastically. From binge-watching the entire series overnight, the viewers will now have to wait for a week to watch the next episode. Moreover, all the major events that you see in this series will become the official canon. This means that the factions visible on our screens will have a direct impact on the future Bethesda games, particularly Fallout 5.

Key Observations

As a tech observer, the decision to change the viewer experience is quite risky and strategic. Risky because at this time, users may complain about its waiting time. However, it is strategic because this move adds a taste of novelty apart from the other cutting-edge factors.

Talking about its content quality, Fallout’s trailer and the first episode are visually appealing, which is attributed to its accurate and top-tier VFX that has similarity with the video game, which makes it more than a mere adaptation to a sci-fi giant. The character arc of The Ghoul and the introduction of New Vegas evoke nostalgia for the fans of the earlier Fallout: New Vegas game. Since Fallout 5 is still in its developmental stage, this show can be looked upon as its closest simulation for the fans who are awaiting its release.
