Microsoft is going to a new level with its AI assistant named Copilot. Microsoft does not want Copilot to just keep on answering questions. It wants to really do things – just by itself. As every tech giant has started upgrading their software with AI. So, in that race, Microsoft wants to do the same.

What Is Agentic AI?

The majority of AI technologies are waiting for instructions. After that, they provide you with an answer. That’s it. This is not the case with agentic AI. It is designed in such a way that it can work in multiple apps without requiring human instructions at all times. Just like a smart helper who does not require instructions for every minor detail. You set a purpose, and it decides by itself only how to achieve it.

What Microsoft is creating

Microsoft introduced Wave 3 of Copilot. This feature is called Copilot Cowork. It is developed with the help of Anthropic. The same tool that develops Claude AI. This is a tool that is able to respond to a single user request. Then, it will be able to perform multi-step and more complex tasks.

If you tell the Copilot what you need. The copilot does that for you. The apps like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook are also receiving an agent mode in Copilot. This allows users to collaborate with Copilot. Copilot helps them to work and enhance documents and spreadsheets.

Why is that important to all of us?

This is a significant development for workplaces. Until the year 2025, the majority of AI agents were very specific and controlled by humans. Even these  AI tools were just waiting for human instructions to work. That changed in the last year. Organizations shifted their focus to AI and expect real results from those tools.

Today, it is possible to develop large projects in days. Smart Copilot tools will analyze data and generate content. While humans are only working on ideas and strategy. Microsoft is not only creating a great chatbot. It is creating a smart helper.
