Now Instagram Gives You Control Over Your Feed

Instagram is undergoing a great change. It is just letting people have control over what they see on Instagram. With users coming across a lot of varied content, capacity to control what comes into your feed is a great relief.
What’s new in this feature
Instagram introduces a new feature named Your Algorithm. This feature is in the reel tab page. Users can get easy access to this feature by just tapping on the little icon in the upper-right corner of the page.
After tapping on this, you are presented with a list of topics. This is something people are demanding from Instagram. Let’s understand it by an example. If you are watching reels related to sports, dance, painting, or music. Then on that page, Instagram shows you that, ‘You like Sports, dance, painting, or music.’ And if you don’t want any of these topics, then you can easily delete it. You can even block any topics if you don’t want to see that content. This happens just because of this feature. Now, you have true control over your Instagram feed.
Why Instagram Needs This

Instagram made this change to give users a beautiful experience. Along with this, there are a few more reasons.
- Many users got frustrated because the videos they didn’t like continued to appear.
- The Governments and regulators began to request social media companies to open up.
- Countries like Australia restrict Instagram for children below the age of 16, because of the harmful algorithm
Instagram wants to show that it is listening. The app competes as well. Tik-Tok already has features like Manage Topics. Instagram needed to stay up to date.
What Comes Next?
Currently, this feature is only available in the United States. But in very little time, Instagram will allow the use of this feature globally. The tool can also be extended to other areas, like the explore page. The idea was very simple. Instagram wants people to choose what they want to see. This is a move in the right direction, which will give a good experience to millions of users.
