Google seems to be going all in with its emerging phone ideas. Although Pixel and Pixel XL were not the best selling smartphones of 2016, they were definitely one of the best handsets of 2016. Google might have ended up selling more phones, if the manufacturing conflict between Google and HTC; its ODM partner had not occurred.

Google being the Android developer serves the latest available versions of Android with the best of features in the mobile industry, which is a major selling point for the company. It recently confirmed launching two second generation phones this year, following Pixel and Pixel XL. However, there seems to be more to it, than what meets the eye.

Droid Life, a news blog based on Google and Android, has researched on numerous unnamed sources and learned that Google is indeed working on a third smartphone. The first two include Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL, which are code named as ‘muskie’ and ‘walleye’.

The blog also insists that the code name for this third device is set as ‘taimen’. It also speculates that this smartphone might not be a part of Pixel family. The code name ‘Taimen’ hints at that device is contributing to a large size, as taimen is a large fish which belongs to the salmon family. Guess this will remain a mystery till Google makes any announcement confirming or revealing any of product details.
