Canon Bets on India’s Creator Economy With New Canon EOS R6V Camera   

The Social media creator community in India is growing very fast. We open Instagram, and the creativity just flows through reels. There are a lot of creators who make videos on social media every single day. From Instagram reels, YouTube videos, to short films. Creators made content in high quality using smartphones or cameras. Let’s know about the price? The body of this camera itself comes with a price of approximately INR 2.35 lakh. The new lens comes with INR 1.42 lakh. So, the total cost will go around INR 3.55 lakh approximately.

The 7K Open Gate Feature

As a content creator, it is important to pay attention to the 7K Open Gate Feature.

This is a situation that all creators can relate to. You take a great wide shot for YouTube. So your editor says that it would be great if we were able to make it into a vertical reel. This video is already cropped. There’s nothing we can do now. It’s too late.

Canon tried its best to solve this problem in the EOS R6V. In 7K Open Gate shooting mode, the entire sensor width and length will be recorded in a single shot. Now, you can easily crop and convert that one clip for a horizontal as well as vertical video. All from the same footage, in post-production. You just need to shoot once. After that, you can publish that video everywhere, no matter what the aspect ratio of that platform requires.

The stabilisation system can also deliver up to 7.5 stops of correction, independently. That is increased to 8 stops with the new RF 20-50 mm lens. Walk and talk videos, handheld b-roll, and run and travel videos will not shake with the Canon R6V camera.

The #IndiaInMotion Initiative By Canon

The #IndiaInMotion Initiative will be a part of Canon’s Bigger Play series. Canon didn’t simply make a product. They embarked on a movement. In addition to the R6V camera, they also launched the #IndiaInMotion initiative, which is a creator-centric initiative to promote film storytelling in India.

This is an important indication. Canon isn’t playing the game of third-world nations by introducing worldwide products and then forgetting about them. They’re seeing it as a creative ecosystem that they want to invest in and the community. That matters.

It was an interesting point by the Canon Managing Executive Officer at the launch. The smartphone is not a competitor with the camera, he said, but rather complements it. Content creation is brought into the world by phones only. With the cameras, they go even deeper. It’s a good indicator of how most creators actually develop – beginning with a phone and then moving on to a mirrorless camera when they’re ready to take the next step.

We talked to some of the creators who have been making content. So that we are able to know if they like this camera or not. Just to get their honest reactions. Here’s their response: 

• Fistup we spoke to a vlogger from Delhi. He was impressed by the record button on the front. He said, “A lot of the time, I face problems in starting to record. I have to reach around the camera and press the record button. This will take care of that.”

• The instant cooling fan is something which videographer loves. He said, “In the long ceremonies, we always have to face the problem when the camera gets too hot. If you miss an opportunity due to a problem with your camera. Your client will not be happy. 

• Next we reached out to food category influencer who was impressed by the 7K Open Gate feature of Canon. He said, “I post the same food video on YouTube, Reels, and Shorts; right now. I have to make different crops while posting. This camera will definitely solve my problem.”
• We also spoke to an upcoming filmmakes who mentioned that cameras are costly, it is a considerable investment. She added. “But when you’re serious and really making a living from your work, this is a tool that pays for itself in all aspects of image quality and stabilisation.”
