WhatsApp is planning to introduce a new username update feature

We are living in a digital world. The most important thing is our privacy. So, sharing a phone number with an unknown person is like a security breach. WhatsApp is planning to change the way how we interact with each other and stay connected. There is no need to share the phone number with an unknown person. We can select or create a username, whatever we want. There are chances that this username feature update will be available on WhatsApp after June 2026. Everyone has wanted this privacy for years.

What is the Username Feature?

The username feature already existed on Instagram, Telegram, and Snapchat. We just have to share our username with someone and connect with them. This feature will help you to connect with anybody, even without sharing your contact number with anybody. It will help you to protect your privacy. Other people won’t be able to see your mobile number when you send a message on WhatsApp. A single particular username is only allowed for each user. It must contain 3-30 characters. 

How Will It Work?

This will work in the same pattern as Instagram and Snapchat work. You can easily set a username on WhatsApp as well. You just have to open WhatsApp and then go to the settings. After that, tap on the name of your profile. Once this feature is enabled, there will be a new option for ‘Username’. Then, you can easily choose or create a username. 

Once you enable this feature, you can just share your username and be able to chat with anyone you want without sharing your mobile number.
